What we screen

Employment Verification

A résumé is a claim. Employment verification turns it into fact — we contact the source and confirm where a candidate actually worked, in what role, for how long, and whether they'd be eligible for rehire.

What we confirm

  • Employer name and that the employment actually existed
  • Position and title held
  • Dates of employment — start and end
  • Employment type where disclosed (full-time, part-time, contract)
  • Reason for leaving and eligibility for rehire, where the former employer will provide it

How we do it

We go to the source — the former employer's HR department, payroll, or an authorized verification service such as The Work Number. We work from the candidate's signed authorization and the details supplied in their secure intake, and we document who confirmed each fact and when. Where an employer has closed or won't respond, we note it and pursue secondary confirmation rather than leaving a silent gap.

Why it matters

Employment embellishment is one of the most common forms of résumé fraud: inflated titles, stretched dates to cover a gap, or a job that never happened. For salaried, licensed, and trust-sensitive roles, an unverified work history is a real risk. Verification protects the hire and gives you a documented, defensible basis for the decision.

How to order it

Employment verification is bundled into our Professional and Professional Plus reports and is available as an à-la-carte add-on on any package — a single prior job or a full history up to seven years. Turnaround depends on how quickly former employers respond; we keep you updated when a source is slow.

Compliance

Verification is conducted with the candidate's authorization and under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. We report what the source confirms, factually and without embellishment.
