What an MVR shows

A motor vehicle record is pulled from the state's driver-licensing agency (in Illinois, the Secretary of State) and reports the person's driving history over the state's reporting period.

• License status — valid, expired, suspended, or revoked
• License class and endorsements (including CDL)
• Restrictions (corrective lenses, interlock, and others)
• Moving violations, at-fault accidents, and points
• DUI / DWI and other serious or major violations
• Failures to appear and license actions

Why it matters

Putting an employee behind the wheel without checking their record is a textbook negligent-entrustment exposure. A clean MVR supports lower fleet-insurance risk and protects the public; a poor one lets you make an informed decision before, not after, an incident. For CDL and DOT-regulated positions, MVR review is part of the compliance baseline.

How to order it

An MVR is available as an à-la-carte add-on on any package and is commonly paired with an identity trace and criminal search for driving roles. We pull the record for the state(s) where the person is licensed.

Compliance

MVRs are obtained for a permissible purpose under the federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act (DPPA) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act, with the driver's authorization. We recommend MVR checks be job-related — reserved for roles that actually involve driving.
